Full Description
Deep in the Gunung Leuser National Park, one of the last remaining habitats of the critically endangered Sumatran orangutan, lies an experience that will change the way you see the natural world. This ethical JavaRoutes jungle trek takes you into the heart of one of the oldest rainforests on Earth.
Guided by experienced local trackers who have spent their lives in this jungle, you will trek through towering dipterocarp forests, cross crystal-clear rivers, and camp under the canopy. Along the way, encounter wild orangutans swinging through the treetops, Thomas langurs, gibbons, hornbills, and if you are lucky, the elusive Sumatran tiger tracks.
This tour is designed in partnership with local communities to ensure that tourism directly benefits conservation efforts. Every booking contributes to orangutan habitat protection and supports the livelihoods of indigenous Karo Batak families.
